Method of Preparing Homemade Pie following the Traditional Mincemeat Pie Recipe Step by Step:

Steps 1:

In a bowl, mix all the ingredients including the mincemeat. Mix well all the fruits, nuts with sugar that they get incorporated with each other properly. With a tight lid on, put the bowl inside the fridge for minimum eight hours or overnight.

Step 2:

Before you prepare the pie crust, take the pie filling mixture out of the fridge. Keep it at room temperature for at least 30 minutes.

Step 3:

Set the oven at 425 °F at preheating option.

Making the Pie Crust and Stuffing Filling Mixture:

Take a nine inch pie plate for baking. Follow the direction on the package and prepare two pie crusts of nine inch size. Roll 1.5 inch thicker round crust.

Mix the filling well before pouring on the pie crust. Stuff the crust-lined baking plate with that mincemeat and fruits mixture. Now cover the meat mix with the second crust.

Seal the sides pressing finger tips firmly in a folding pattern. You can make any pattern using a fork or as you prefer. Pierce wholes randomly with a fork that the steams can come out easily while baking inside the oven.

Step 4:

Keep the pie plate on the lowest rack in the oven. Bake for 40 to 45 minutes. Check if the pastry is turning golden brown. Take the pie out if cooked properly. Cool it on a cooling rack for hours. Enjoy!

Frozen Mincemeat Pie for Later Use:

For big gatherings, if we want to make several batches of pies, we can freeze the pies following specific method and can use the pies on the event day instantly.

At first, cover the completely baked and cold pie very well with plastic cling wraps. Then cover the pies in foil and freeze.  To bake from frozen condition, we need to preheat the oven at 375 °F. Then unfold the wrappers. Bake for 80 to 90 minutes. The shell will turn golden brown. The filling will be boiling inside.

Use a pie shield or a loose cover if the pie seems to be browned more than needed. If properly followed, the frozen pie will taste the same like the fresh one after baking. Enjoy!
