There are quite some double fudge chocolate recipes out there, but not all have the gusto you are looking for. I’ve gathered some of the best, and you will be both liking and licking it for sure. Let’s jump into the recipes.

Double Fudge Chocolate Cake

This one comes from 1986. It has been popular ever since for its essence. There will be a smooth fudge icing to sandwich the cake layers. Commonly, chocolate, cocoa, and some other items are used for chocolate fudge cake icing, and there will be exceptions for it here as well. Let’s jump into this recipe already.

Ingredients:

  • 4 oz of semisweet chocolate, chopped
  • 1/3 cup of cocoa powder
  • 1 cup of boiling water
  • 1 cup of butter
  • 2 and 1/4 cups of sugar
  • 3 medium-sized eggs
  • 1 tsp of vanilla extract
  • 2 and 1/4 cups of all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp of baking powder
  • 1 tsp of baking soda
  • 1 cup of milk

For Fudge Icing:-

  • 8 oz of semisweet chocolate, chopped
  • 1/4 cup of cocoa powder
  • 3/4 cup of milk
  • 1/2 cup of butter
  • 3 cups of icing sugar, sifted
  • 1 and 1/2 tsp of vanilla extract
  • 4 oz of cream cheese

Directions for preparation step by step:

Step 1: Start with the oven. Preheat it to 350F.

Step 2: Get two 9″ cake pans. We are going to make a double fudge cake. Butter all over the pans. Now, line up round with parchment paper. Butter them over again.

Step 3: Get a mixing bowl. Add 4 oz of semisweet chopped chocolates and 1/3 cup of cocoa powder. Stir in 1 cup of boiling water. Keep stirring to melt. Let it set aside to cool for a bit.

Step 4: Get another mixing bowl. Add 1 cup of butter and cream it. After that, add in 2 and 1/4 cups of sugar. Stir to mix well.

Step 5: Now, beat in 3 eggs one at a time. After that, add 1 tsp of vanilla extract. Get the melted chocolate bowl. Add it and combine them well.

Step 6: Add 2 and 1/4 cups of all-purpose flour, 2 tsp of baking powder, and 2 tsp of baking soda with a sieve. Mix the ingredients until they are blended well.

Step 7: Get the pans. Divide the batter and pour onto the pans. Off to the oven.

Step 8: Bake for around 45-50 minutes. The center should be sprung up when lightly pressed. Set it aside to let it cool.

For Fudge Icing:-

Step 9: Get a glass mixing bowl. Add 8 oz of semisweet chopped chocolates, 1/4 cup of cocoa powder, 3/4 cup of milk, and 1/2 cup of butter. Place the bowl gently over a simmering water pot. Stir until it melts and combine well. Should be super smooth. Set it aside to cool slightly.

Step 10: Add in 3 cups of icing sugar and 1 and 1/2 tsp of vanilla extract and beat well. Set aside to chill a bit.

Step 11: Add 4 oz of cream cheese with 1/2 cup of the fudge icing—Reserve the rest.

Step 12: Sandwich the two layers with the reserved fudge icing. Frost both the top and the sides. They say double fudge doubles the taste. For that, decorate as you fancy with the cream cheese mixture. Let it refrigerate for an hour or so before serving. Enjoy!

Double Fudge Friday

This recipe came from 1996 and appeared in a newsletter. This came as a hit for its decadent and flavorful, yet quite some delicacy. This cake takes hardly some time to put together. Comparing with the original double fudge chocolate cake, it’s tough to choose after all.

Ingredients:

  • 1 and 1/4 cups of granulated sugar
  • 1 cup of brown sugar
  • 1 cup of vegetable oil
  • 2 large-sized eggs
  • 2 tsp of vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup of cocoa powder
  • 2 tsp of baking powder
  • 2 tsp of baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp of salt
  • 3 cups of all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups of brewed coffee, luke-warm
  • 1 cup of semisweet chocolate, chopped

For Topping:-

  • 1 cup of semisweet chocolate, chopped
  • 1 cup (170g) white chocolate, chopped

Directions for preparation step by step:

Step 1: The fudge cake recipe is almost the same everywhere. Start with the oven. Preheat it to 350F.

Step 2: Get a 10″ cake pan. Butter all over the pan. Now, line up round with parchment paper. Butter them over again.

Step 3: Get a large mixing bowl. Add 1 and 1/4 cups of granulated sugar, 1 cup of brown sugar, 1 cup of vegetable oil, 2 large eggs, and 2 tsp of vanilla extract. Beat them at medium speed for a minute. It should be super smooth.

Step 4: Add 3 cups of all-purpose flour, 2 tsp of baking powder, 2 tsp of baking soda, and 3/4 cup of cocoa powder with a sieve. Mix the ingredients until they are blended well.

Step 5: Add the flour mixture to the sugar mixture gradually. Stir in 2 cups of brewed coffee as well. Beat steadily to make a smooth batter.

Step 7: Get the pan. Pour the batter onto it. Sprinkle the chopped chocolates on top. Off to the oven.

Step 8: Bake for around 60-70 minutes. The center should be sprung up when lightly pressed.

For Topping:

Step 9: Take the cake out. Immediately sprinkle the dark and white chopped chocolates. Set the fudge cake aside to cool a bit. The chocolates will soften now. Let it refrigerate for an hour or so before serving. Enjoy!
