I am sharing the idea to make a simple yellow cake calories-rich recipe, and anyone can try this at home to enjoy a self-made birthday cake for your loved one.

Ingredients that You Will Need

Ingredients for cake

¼ Cup Corn Starch (35g)

2 Tablespoons Baking Powder

2 ¼ Cups All-Purpose Flour (270g) (You Can Also Try the 2 ½ Cups of Cake Flour Instead of All-Purpose Flour

½ Tablespoon Salt

1 ¼ Cup Sugar (Granulated) 250 G

2 Yolks

3 Eggs Room Temperature Large

1 Cup or 240ml Buttermilk

¼ Cup Vegetable Oil

1/2 Cup Unsalted Butter

Ingredients for Chocolate Buttercream

¼ Cup Cocoa

1 ¼ Cup Unsalted Butter ( 1 Cup Room Temperature. ¼ Cup Melted)

½ Cup Milk Divided

½ Tablespoon Salt

1/3 Cup Semisweet Chocolate

1 Pound Powdered Sugar( 450g)

How to Make Davids Cakes?

For the cake

Step 1:  Start with preheating the oven up to 350 degrees F. Add butter and flour to the pans; it would be good if you take 6 inches pan. Now whisk the flour, corn starch, salt, and baking powder; once mixed, set them aside.

Step 2: Mix sugar and cream butter in the mixer stand by using the paddle attachment. You can also use the bowl if you have an electric hand mixer.

Step 3: Next, add vanilla and oil, mix them well, then scrape the bowl down. Now take only one egg and add it to the mixer; once it is incorporated, add the next. Now take out the bowl and add the last one and mix again.

Step 4: Now add buttermilk and flour mixture to the melt butter mix all but mix gently.

Step 5: Take all the mixture and bake it in the oven; make sure the oven is preheated up to 350 F. Leave it in the oven for 30 minutes. 

Step 6: Turn off the oven but do not take out the layers; leave it for some minute to cool, then take out in a wire rack to cool it entirely.

For Chocolate Buttercream

Step 1: Start with melting ¼ cup of butter in the oven. Mix the melted butter in cocoa powder and set them aside.

Step 2:  Now melt the semisweet chocolate 1/3 cup with ¼ cup milk, mix them, and set them aside. If you like, then you can use ½ cup of more chocolate for extra chocolate-rich flavor.

Step 3: By using a paddle attachment, mix the room temperature butter in a stand mixer.

Step 4: Pour the melted butter cocoa mixture, mix well, scrape the bowl down, and remix the mixture. Now add powdered sugar and mix it well. 

Step 5: Mix it in cool but melted chocolate and then drizzle about ¼ cup of milk. Now scrape the bowl down and until it mixes well. But make sure the frosting should be soft, luscious, and silky.

Step 6: Spread the buttercream on the top and first layers; make sure all the cake is covered with buttercream. You can use the spatula to swirl the buttercream around to protect rusting effect.

Your cake is ready now; place it in the refrigerator and enjoy on birthday.
