Preparing crawfish bread is quite easy if you have your bread already prepared. If not then you need to prepare all by yourself., and that doesn’t seem that much easy to me at all. Here, for your benefit, I have used the frozen bread dough, so that you can have an idea of preparing it if the French bread is not available. The special Copeland’s crawfish needs a lot of cheese to make it ultimate juicy.

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound Louisiana crawfish
  • 1/2 cup of melted butter (For frying and brushing)
  • 4 scallions, chopped (covers almost 1/2 cup)
  • 2 cups of finely chopped onions.
  • 1 bell pepper, finely chopped
  • 2 cherry tomatoes, cut in cubic sized
  • 1 cup of mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp. of hot sauce
  • 1/2 tbsp. of Kosher salt
  • 1 tbsp. of Adobo-Honey sauce
  • 1 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup of parmesan cheese
  • 24 ounces of frozen bread dough

Directions:

Step 1: In a skillet, you need to melt the butter over medium-high heat. Now add the onions stirring for 5 to 10 minutes or until they get translucent.

Step 2: When the onions are translucent, add the chopped bell pepper and garlic cloves, stirring, and cooking for 5 minutes more.

Step 3: Lastly, you need to add the crawfish, green onions, hot sauce, and adobo-honey sauce, chopped tomatoes in the half-cooked bell pepper onion mixture. For seasoning, add the salt and pepper in showed amount or as per your taste. Cover and cook for not more than 10 minutes.

Step 4: Turn the oven on for preheating to 350 degrees F.

Step 5: Now bring out the frozen bread dough and roll the loaf of bread out. Generously flour the surface where you are rolling the loaf. Make the loaf to a 20×5-inch rectangle shape and cut them in halves in width-wise. With 24 ounces of frozen bread dough, you can prepare 2 rectangular-shaped bread dough.

Step 6: Now spoon the crawfish-vegetable mixture as per your need into the cut bread. Top with 1/2 cup of each type of cheeses.

Step 7: This seems the most critical part to me. Fold the bread-dough over and you need to carefully pinch the dough edges for sealing.

Step 8: Well, for venting, with a knife cut the 2″ slits on the top of the bread dough, filled with the crawfish mixture. Repeat the same procedure with the other half.

Step 9: Grease the baking sheet with melted butter. Then place the loaves, and brush lightly with melted butter again. Putting the baking dish in the preheated oven, bake them for 25 minutes or until they turn in fine golden color.

Removing from the oven, let it sit for 10 minutes or else while slicing, you will burn your hands. The flavor of hot sauce and adobo-honey sauce makes the bread juicy. The juicy-cheesy bite surely melts your heart down with its amazing flavor.

  • 2 cup of mayo
  • 3 ounces of Provolone cheese
  • 3 ounces of Mozzarella cheese
  • 3 ounces of Cheddar cheese
  •  2 loaves French bread (cut in half)

How to Make Crawfish Bread Step By Step:

Step 1: In a frying pan, add 2 tbsp. of margarine over medium-high heat. As we all know, margarine is healthier than butter. But you can also use butter if you desire.

Step 2: When the margarine is almost melted, add 1/2 cup of chopped onion, chopped green bell pepper, and sauté for 5 minutes or until wilted.

Step 3: Then, you need to add the 1/2 green onions, as they are slightly softer than regular onions, and garlic cloves. Well, this time, you can smell the garlic butter odor which is my favorite. Cook and stir the mixture, not more than 3 minutes.

Step 4: Then into the vegetable mixture, add the crawfish, and season with salt and black pepper. Now reducing the heat to low, cover the frying pan, and cook for 10 minutes.

Step 5: In a small bowl, mix 2 tbsp. of honey, and 1 stick of melted butter. Set the mixture aside.

Step 6: Now, after 10 minutes, add 11/2 cup of mayo into the cooked crawfish. Right after that, add the 3 types of cheeses. Slice the cheeses evenly with a cheese grater, before adding.

Step 7: Now, spread the mayo-cheese mixed crawfish over the French bread. On each half of the French bread, spread it evenly.

Step 8: Now grease the baking sheet, and place the bread basting with honey butter mixture.

Step 9: Put the baking sheet in the oven at the temperature of 250 degrees F. Set the timer to 15 minutes. After 15 minutes, you will notice the amazing fragrance.

Expel from oven transfer your seafood bread on a serving dish. Wait at least 5 minutes before slicing. Enjoy this appetizer the fullest. The balanced sweet flavor comes from butter honey and the flavor tastes amazing.
