Sugar Cookie Recipe Without Butter

Sugar Cookie Recipe Without Butter

Sugar cookies always remind me of my childhood. I remember, whenever I go to my grandparents’, there was a cookie jar. That chewy cookie is so far the best cookie I have.

When I become an adult, I learned the sugar cookie recipe without butter from my granny. Last week, I was doing some stuff and found out my old cooking book. So, today from granny’s special I’m sharing this recipe of no butter sugar cookies.

Homemade Sugar Cookies Without Butter Recipe:

Let’s not talk much! But I’m sure after having these special cookies with no butter, you will fall for this recipe. Here, I’m using sour milk as butter substitute for cookies. Let’s check out the written recipe.

Ingredients We Need:

  • 2 cups of all-purpose flour plus some extra (2 tbsp) for kneading
  • 1 tbsp of sour milk
  • 1/4 tsp of Kosher salt
  • 1/8 tsp of baking soda
  • 3/4 cup of coconut oil, you can use extra virgin olive oil too
  • 3/4 cup of granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp of vanilla extract

How to Make Sugar Cookies Without Butter and Baking Powder Step by Step:

Step 1:  First of all, take a medium-sized mixing bowl, and add 2 cups of all-purpose flour, or for better, you can use gluten-free flour.

Then add 1 tbsp of sour milk, ¼ tsp of kosher salt, and 1/8 or a pinch of baking soda. Mix all the ingredients together with a whisk.

Step 2: In another large bowl, pour ¾ cup of coconut oil, and ¾ cup of granulated sugar in equal amount. With a mixer or hand whisk, beat finely for 2 minutes or less.

Step 3: In that bowl, add the large egg, and 1 tsp of vanilla extract. Mix them with mixer finely until they are smooth and peaky.

Step 4:  Pour that dry ingredients mixture into that large bowl, and with a wooden spoon or by hands start mixing them until they are into a dough shape.

Well, I prefer using hands, sprinkling flour as needed to make the dough clean and smooth. Remember one thing, when your hands come out clean, always knead for 5 more minutes for a better result.

Step 5: Cover the large bowl with plastic wrap, and let it chill for 30 minutes.

Step 6: Now, you need to preheat the oven at the temperature of 350 degrees F.

Step 7: After 30 minutes, roll the dough into 1.5-inch balls or oval shape, whichever shape you prefer.

Step 8: Then, place them on a cookie sheet, flattening them with your hands.

Step 9: Bake for 10 to 12 minutes until they are light golden in color and fragrant.

Conclusion:

The savory tang and chewy twist of these vegetable oil cookies or coconut oil cookies make your evening snacks amazing. In health issues, this is very good for children too. Share your experience with us and enjoy.
