Ingredients That You Will Need Are:

  • Two ears or stalks of corn
  • Half of a cup of unsalted butter
  • One and one fourth of a cup of vegetable oil
  • One and one fourth of a cup of finely diced jalapenos 
  • One fourth of a cup of stone-ground cornmeal
  • One fourth of a cup of all-purpose flour
  • One tablespoon of sugar
  • One teaspoon of baking soda
  • Half a teaspoon of salt
  • One and a half of a cup of buttermilk
  • Two large beaten eggs
  • Two tablespoons of honey
  • One teaspoon of bacon fat (optional)

Method of Preparing the Grill Cornbread Dish Step by Step:

Step 1: Preheat the oven to 450°F and set the oven rack on the middle. 

Step 2: Add the butter, bacon fat and oil on a skillet and melt them together in the oven, it will take about 5 minutes. 

Step 3: Heat the grill to a medium high heat. Brush the corn cobbs with the oil and turn the sides every 3 minutes. Repeat until the color is golden brown and the outer layers are charred. 

Step 4: Cut the corn kernels off of the cobbs and set aside. 

Step 5: Whish the eggs, buttermilk and melted butter together. 

Step 6: Whisk the flour, jalapenos, cornmeal, salt, and baking soda and mix them well n a large bowl. 

Step 7: Mix the wet and dry ingredients together and mix until they are well incorporated. 

Step 8: Pour the mixture into the hot skillet. Bake it till the bread is cooked through. It may take about 15-20 minutes. 

Step 9: Cool it on a cooling rack. Cut and serve as a side dish.
