Peter Luger Sauce Ingredients

1 Cup of Ketchup

2 Tbsp Plus 1 Tsp of Worcestershire Sauce (Divided)

1 Tbsp Plus 1 Tsp of Sugar

1/4 Tsp of Louisiana-Style Tabasco Hot Sauce

2 Tbsp of Distilled White Vinegar

2 Tbsp of Mild-Flavored Molasses

2 Tbsp of Prepared Horseradish

1 Tsp of Anchovy Paste

1/2 Tsp of Garlic Powder

1/4 Tsp of Kosher Salt

1/4 Tsp of Freshly Ground Black Pepper

How to Make Peter Luger Steak Sauce Step by Step:

Step 1: Take out a mixing bowl and add 1 cup of ketchup with 2 tbsp of Worcestershire sauce. Mix finely with a spoon or fork.

Step 2: Also, add 1 tbsp of sugar, ¼ tsp of Tabasco hot sauce and 2 tbsp of mild-flavored molasses. Stir to combine. 

Step 3: In another bowl, add 2 tbsp of prepared horseradish, 1 tsp of anchovy paste and 2 tbsp of white vinegar. Mix them finely and add to the sauce-mix. 

Step 4: Now, one by one add the spices: ½ tsp of garlic powder, ¼ tsp of kosher salt and ¼ tsp of freshly ground black pepper. 

Step 5: Taste the sauce and if needed then add 1 tsp of Worcestershire sauce, and 1 tsp of sugar. 

Allow the prepared peter luger steak house old fashioned sauce to rest for 1 hour before serving.

I used the extra Worcestershire sauce because my sauce became a little bit thick.

½ Tsp of Chipotle Pepper

¼ Cup of Apple Cider Vinegar

1 Tsp of Worcestershire Sauce

1 Tsp of Tamarind Paste

½ Tsp of Anchovy Paste

2 Tbsp of Tabasco Sauce

¼ Tsp of Kosher Salt

¼ Tsp of Freshly Groundblack Pepper

2 Tbsp of Prepared Horseradish, Finely Grated

2 Tbsp of Mild-Flavored Molasses

1 Tbsp of Canola Oil or Avocado Oil

3 Large Garlic Cloves, Roughly Chopped

How to Prepare Peter Luger Steak Sauce Step by Step:

Step 1: Bring out a saucepot and heat over medium-high flame. Pour 1 tbsp of canola oil. 

Step 2: Add 1 cup of shallot and 1/4 cup of white onion. Saute finely for 30 seconds to 45 seconds until they become translucent. 

Step 3: Now, add chopped garlic and stir for 1 minute or until fragrant. Remove the mixture from heat. 

Step 4: Add 1 cup of ketchup, ½ tsp of anchovy paste, 2 tbsp of Tabasco, 1 tsp of Worcestershire sauce, ½ tsp of chipotle pepper, ¼ cup of apple cider vinegar, and 1 tsp of tamarind paste.

Step 5: Return the saucepot back to heat over medium-low flame. Cook until it gets to your desired consistency. 

Step 6: Remove the sauce from heat and let cool for 30 minutes. 

Step 7: When the sauce is cold enough, blend it with a blender until super smooth. Sprinkle ¼ tsp of salt and ¼ tsp of pepper and done!

This sauce can be served immediately and also be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 weeks and in the freezer for up to 1 year.
