Edam

Edam is native cheese from the Netherlands. This circular cheese is not hard, not soft; technically, it hardens over time, and that’s a good thing, fear not; it won’t spoil. Now, the crust here is made from paraffin wax that is, by contrast, looks beautiful with the creamy interior.

Now, this mild cheese goes best with fruits like apricots, plums. As a matter of fact, the aged edam goes well with apples, peaches, and quinces. You can even give it a go with the crackers. Now, it will be up to a couple of weeks without getting this platter spoiled. If you want to go with Chardonnay or Riesling or you can think of any, you are green to go.

This letter e food is high in calcium that can prevent most of the bone-related issues with your body such as like, osteoporosis.

Edamame

Edamame is basically a substitute name for immature soybeans. The word refers to “stem beans”, which it actually is. However, it also refers to an old method to prepare soybeans into a pod. You can boil or steam the pod. Even can serve without the saltwater. You can eat the beans right out of the pod.

East Asia has some typical dish that contains edamame; in fact, food starts with e is quite a common thing in this region. Talking about the beans, you can find edamame packed in small containers in the grocery store.

Edamame beans are enjoyed mostly as a healthy snack. They are praised more than the other soybeans for their comparatively high protein contents. These beans also provide all the essential amino acids that are needed for our body on a daily basis. They are also rich in antioxidants that play a significant role in regulating cholesterol levels. For people diagnosed with type-2 diabetes, edamame is an excellent choice for their daily diet.

Eggfruit

The egg is neither a fruit nor grows on trees. What is this food that starts with the letter e? Well, this is actually a native fruit of southern Mexico. The taste, the looks, everything is unique about this fruit. Eggfruit has orange-yellowish flesh with a subtle sweet flavor.

The texture here resembles the yolk of a hard-boiled egg. The unique taste of it made it popular to use as toppings for pancakes. The rough surface might also remind you of pudding. You can eat this food the way it is, cook it, or can turn it into jam, as you fancy. In some regions, marmalades are made from this unique fruit.

Egg fruits are not behind nutrients as well. An adequate amount of beta-carotene can be found in these fruits. This compound, however, converts into Vitamin A to boost your immune system. The amount of calcium and iron can’t be neglected as well. They are to strengthen your bones and to produce hemoglobin that transports oxygen.

Elbow Macaroni

Elbow macaroni is quite distinct from the family. But don’t turn your back, because this bad boy can be made to some amazing dishes. It’s also a great choice if you are in a hurry. Even though you are in a hurry, I hope you won’t forget the trademark macaroni and cheese, right? With some mozzarella or parmesan, or you name it, the macaroni becomes a lively meal. What you have to do is simply dump that macaroni in a boiling pot and follow the instructions.

Now, this quick and straightforward food with e has some of a bit issues you might want to follow up with. This macaroni with cheese contains large amounts of fat and carbs. They both contribute to a high-calorie count. What you can do is simply add some veggies to cut out the disadvantages.

Elderberry

Elderberry might be a unique food beginning with e. These purple-blue berries are mostly recognized as medicinal plants. They are used as dietary supplements and consumed with juices or types of teas. These berries create a reddish shade when diluted into water. As a matter of fact, they are used as a good food color additive. These berries, however, aren’t for raw consumption. From seed to flower, mostly everything is poisonous. It’s safe to consume when cooked.

Native Americans had elderberry as one of the first choices to treat any kind of infection. Even long before that, these berries were used to heal burns. The extracted juice from elderberry can reduce flu symptoms and the common cold. Not only that, skin products containing elderberry extract is studied to have UV protection. Now for consumption, they are packed with antioxidants that can relieve you from oxidative stress.

Escargot

Even though escargot, one of the popular e dishes in French cuisine, is scorned by us, I would still suggest giving it a shot at least one time. Escargot is basically a land snail that is cooked with various kinds of sauces. No, not the full snail is cooked. Chefs, remove the shell beforehand if that’s a relief for you. For a better presentation, the meat pieces are transferred back to the shell again once it’s cooked. It is usually served with garlic butter, cheese sauce, and if your chef recommends something special, go for it.

Escargots are quite full of some nutrients. A good source of iron can be acquired from them. Iron plays one of the significant roles in building red blood cells. They also contain Vitamin B12 that keeps your nervous system fully functional, and processes Foliate. Escargots also have a fair amount of magnesium that can regulate our blood pressure.
