Chinese Fried Ice Cream Recipe

Recipe of Chinese Fried Ice Cream:

Without uttering a word, I’m jumping to the recipe.

Ingredients we Need:

  • 1 madeira cake
  • 4 scoops of vanilla ice cream
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup of dry breadcrumbs
  • 2 cups of canola oil, for deep frying

For caramel Sauce:

  • 2/3 cup of cream 
  • ¾ cup of brown sugar 
  • 3 tsp of butter, you can use margarine instead
  • 1 tsp of vanilla extract 

How to Fry Ice Cream Step by Step:

Step 1: At first, we will prepare the caramel sauce. So, we need to take a glass mixing bowl.

Step 2: Pour 2/3 cup of cream, ¾ cup of brown sugar, 3 tsp of butter, and 1 tsp of vanilla extract into the bowl. Mix them finely with a whisk.

Step 3: Take out a medium-sized saucepan, and pour the mixture in the saucepan over medium heat. 

Step 4: Keep stirring the mixture for 5 to 7 minutes until the sugar completely dissolves. 

Step 5: Bringing it to boil, reduce the heat to a simmer for 5 more minutes. 

Step 6: When the sauce thickens, remove it from heat and set it aside. 

To Prepare Homemade Fried Ice Cream:

Step 1: Cut the Madeira cake into 8 slices for frying.

Step 2: Lay one slice of cake in one hand, and top with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Step 3: Placing the second slice of the cake over top of the ice cream, use your hands to shape the cake to form a ball around the ice cream.

Step 4: Transfer it to a shallow plate, and place it in the freezer to chill without wasting any time.

Step 5: Let the balls of ice cream set in the freezer for 2 hours or more.

Step 6: Take out another shallow bowl and beat the eggs. Also, place bread crumbs on a plate.

Step 7: Remove the balls from the freezer, and roll in the whisked egg, then chill in the freezer again.

Step 8: After freezing them overnight, remove them from the fridge, and let them stand for 5 minutes.

Step 9: Drench oil into a medium saucepan, turning on the heat to the high.

Step 10: Place 2 asian ice cream balls at a time into the heated oil, and cook for 1 minute until they turn into golden color.

Drain on a paper towel to soak the extra oil from it. For garnish and taste, drizzle with the prepared caramel sauce and serve.
