Cha lua recipes are extremely demandable recipes worldwide. Whenever I feel sad or have a get together, these are my favorite. You will find loads of recipes online but they question about authenticity.

From my experience, I can tell that each and every cha lua recipe is worth your time and money. 

How to Make Cha Lua?

Vietnamese cha lua is a traditional Tet menu recipe. Preparing cha lua doen’t make much ingredients or time. You need to be just little bit careful while preparing this. So, don’t hasitate to be get prepared for the recipe and get a new cooking experience. 

Ingredients for Vietnam Pork Roll:

3 Cups of Water

6 Oz. of Potato Starch

5 Lbs of Pork Loin, Finely Ground with Food Processor

1 Cup of Alsa Baking Powder (Different Type Will Work Anyways)

¼ Cup of Fish Sauce

2 Tbsp of Sugar

1 Tbsp of Kosher Salt

1 Packet of Banana Leaves

Methods of Preparing Vietnamese Steamed Pork Roll Step by Step:

Step 1: Take out a large mixing bowl and pour ¼ cup of fish sauce, 2 tbsp of sugar, and 1 tbsp of kosher salt. Mix them well until the sugar dissolves. 

Step 2: In that mixing bowl, add 6 oz. of potato starch and whisk finely. 

Step 3: Now, you need to add finely ground pork and continue mixing until all the liquids are finely absorbed into the ground pork loin. 

Step 4: Take out a tablespoon of mixture and microwave for not more than 20 seconds so that you can taste the seasoning as well as adjust them. 

Step 5: Cover the mixing bowl tightly and keep in the refrigerator for 6 hours to overnight. 

Step 6: The rest of work is for next day. You need to take out a large steamer. Put the mixing bowl in it and bring to a boil. 

Step 7: Whip the mixture with a food processor or stand mixer. If you work on small batches, they will taste better later. 

Step 8: Keep working until the mixture is glossy and smooth. This is a must do thing is to keep the mixture in a cold place.

Step 9: When fully done, take small portions and wrap in the banana leaf finely. 

Step 10: Steam for 20 minutes or until the internal temperature of cha lua reaches to 165 degrees F. 

Serve with jasmine rice, dirty rice, fried rice, salsa, etc. 

Cha Lua Quick Recipe:

Without any talk, let’s proceed to the recipe instructions and list of ingredients. 

Ingredients we Need: 

3 Lbs of Pork Butt or Pork Loin

½ Tsp of Kosher Salt

½ Cup of Iced Water

2 Tbsp of Fish Sauce

1 Tbsp of Corn Starch

2 Tbsp of Sugar

1 Tsp of White Pepper

1 Tsp of Baking Powder

6 Banana Leaves

Methods of Preparing Step by Step:

Step 1: In a mixing bowl, add 3 lbs of ground pork, ½ tsp of kosher salt, 2 tbsp of sugar, 1 tsp of white pepper, along with 2 tbsp of fish sauce. 

Step 2: In another bowl, pour ½ cup of iced water, 1 tbsp of corn starch, and 1 tsp of baking powder

Step 3: Now, pour the liquid mixture over the ground meat mixture. 

Step 4: Keeping in a flat surface, pour the meat mixture in a flat layer over a plastic wrap and keep in the freezer for 2 hours. 

Step 5: Then, process again for 3 minutes in short batches using a food processor. 

Step 6: place the processed meat again in the freezer for 1 hour. 

Step 7: Brush banana leaves with vegetable oil and place the stuffing, forming into a roll.

Step 8: Fold and tie with red ribbon to get hold of the roll. 

Step 9: In the steamer, steam for 30 minutes or until fully cooked. 

Tips:

Many Cha Lua Recipes Have Garlic Included but This Is Not the Actual Tet Menu Cha Lua.
