With the Betty Crocker egg noodle recipe, you can literally make your own egg noodles at home. With simple pantry staples, you can prepare the noodles of your own, cut them into any shape, thinner or wider. Just you need to be patient for some time as it will take time. In my childhood, I saw my granny making noodles at home, but I absolutely forgot as it was long since.
But then in my cooking class, I heard about Betty Crocker then I became nostalgic. Returning home, I started preparing the noodles with the help of my old cookbook. But there was something off about that. My noodles weren’t firm enough. After a short while, I discovered the lack of thin cloth to soak the liquid completely. Let’s jump to the recipe.
How Do You Make Egg Noodles?
When preparing the egg noodles at home, first you need to be patient. You need to put the ingredients in batches and have to mix them properly. Ingredients in Egg Noodles
2 cups of whole wheat flour or all-purpose flour. Whole wheat flour makes the best though
3 egg yolks
1 large egg
2 tsp. of Kosher salt
¼ to ½ cup of water
Methods of Preparing Bisquick Noodles Step by Step:
Step 1: Take out a large mixing bowl, and add 2 cups of whole wheat flour.
Step 2: Make a well into the center of the flour, then pour egg yolks, the large egg and 2 tsp of kosher salt. Mix them finely with a wooden spoon.
Step 3: Pour 1 tbsp of water at a time and mix properly until the dough is quite firm but easy enough to roll.
Step 4: Now, with a butter knife, divide the dough into 4 equal parts.
Step 5: Prepare a flat surface covered with thin cloth and generously covered with flour. Take one part of dough at a time and roll the dough with a rolling pin until the dough turns into paper-thin rectangle form.
Step 6: Carefully, fold the dough lengthwise into third and cut the dough transverse into 1/8” strips. With this you will get thin noodles. If you want it wider then cut into 1/4” strips.
Step 7: Now, shake out the strips and keep on a towel to make them stiff and dry. It won’t take more than 2 hours.
Step 8: Repeat the procedure with the remaining dough. After completely dried, the homemade Betty noodles are prepared.
Step 9: Break the dry noodle strips into smaller ones if desired. I don’t usually break them because my daughter loves eating long noodles.
Step 10: In a large saucepan, add almost 3 quarts of water and 1 tbsp of kosher salt.
Step 11: Place the homemade noodles and allow them to boil for 12 minutes to 15 minutes. If you want to cook half a portion of that prepared noodles, then use 1 ½ quarts of water and 2 tsp of kosher salt.
Step 12: When done, remove from the oven and serve warm.
Well, in this recipe, I have shown how to make noodles at home with simply whole wheat flour or all-purpose flour and egg. After trying this, you will surely say that this is the best-made noodles you have ever had. At least, far better than the packet one. You can store the noodles for up to 1 month in a glass container or bowl. Also, you can cook it with your favorite recipe and if you want to cook it simply, then add some butter, dried parsley, and mayo-cheese sauce with it. Surely, this will take your homemade christmas noodles to another level.
