Alfajores De Maicena Recipe

Hello everyone! I have back with another brand new delicious cookie recipe. This particular dessert or snack recipe is originally from Argentina. But now-a-days it is becoming a popular dish worldwide. I have tried cooking it several times, after that my friends and family have been complimenting me so much that I want to share very special alfajores de maicena recipe with you guys. So let’s begin!

Recipe of Alfajores De Maicena

This is basically a caramel confection from Latin America. The most basic and easiest way to cook this is, slowly and constantly stirring milk and sugar in low heat.

The mixture will thicken and caramelizes to brown golden or brown colour. Then our Dulce de leche will be ready to use! Among the easy argentina cookie recipes, this one is very popular. For your convenience, I have divided the ingredient list and cooking direction, which are given as follows:

Alfajores Ingredientes:

  • 1 ¾  cups of flour
  • 2 cups of Corn starch/ corn flour
  • 5 Egg yolk
  • 1 tsp of vanilla extract
  • 2 tsp of Baking powder
  • 2 sticks of butter
  • 1 ¼ cup of powdered sugar
  • 1 ¼ cup of Dulce de leche
  • ¼ cup of Coconut (optional)

How to Make Alfajores Step by Step:

Step 1: First of all, we will take a bowl and place flour, corn flour and baking powder in it. Now we whisk the mixture and then set it aside.

Step 2: Now we take another mixing bowl to beat the butter and powdered sugar until it gets fluffy. You can also use electric beater to fasten the process.

Step 3: Then we will add the 5 egg yolks, one at the time and vanilla essence. In this stage, we will gradually mix the previous flour mixture to the present one, and beat until smooth dough is formed.

Step 4: After finishing the beating and shaping the dough into a smooth round disk, we will wrap it with a foil and place the bowl in the refrigerator for minimum one hour.

Step 5: Now, we will set and line 2 baking trays with baking sheets for further use.

Step 6: In this stage, we will roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface (with more or less 1/4 inches thickness). We will outline the cookies with 2-2.5 inches round or fluted cutter. Now, we will be rolling the leftover dough again and cut out more cookies.

Step 7: We now place the cookies (also known as biscuits) on the previously set baking sheets and then put this back in the refrigerator for half an hour.

Step 8: Now it’s time to prepare the oven and bake our cookies! We will set the oven to 180°C or 350°F for preheating.

Step 9: Finally, we will bake our prepared baking sheets, 1 sheet at a time (for 8-10 minutes). The biscuits will be stay light colored on the top. And then we will cool the sheets completely.

Step 10: At the end, with the help of a pastry bag or spoon, we will spread our dulce de leche over the first cookie, then tenderly close and make a sandwich with another cookie on the top.

For decorative purpose of alfajores de maizena, we can use desiccated coconut or powdered sugar dust by rolling the cookies in them. This is optional.

Conclusion:

We can make at least 35-40 cookies out of this recipe. Trust me; you are all going to love it! Because Alfajor de maizena argentina is super easy to make and will only take more or less 100 minutes.
