Ruth's Chris Bread Pudding Recipe

Ruth’s Chris Bread Pudding Recipe is not like a typical bread pudding recipe but really something different. You can’t think of having pudding like this if you haven’t been to Ruth’s Chris Steak House. There I have found this super moist and flavorful steak pudding. The taste was so good but it doesn’t wholly look and taste like typical bread puddings. After researching and working on it, I have figured out the recipe for this amazing bread pudding.

How Make Ruth Chris Bread Pudding?

Here, first of all, we are going to cook some liquid with milk and spices, adding the apples and bread cubes to absorb. Then we will transfer them to the baking sheet. So, here we are cooking first then baking them. Hence, we get a stable top and very soft and moist inside. Also, the topping of whiskey sauce makes it much more different and tempting. Let’s start with the recipe.

½ cup of sweet butter

1 tbsp of vanilla extract

1/2 quart of milk

1/2 cup of raisins

1/2 tbsp of cinnamon

¼ tsp of nutmeg

A pinch of salt

1 1/4 cups of sugar

1/2 cup of light brown sugar

18 oz. loaf French bread cut into 1/2-inch cubes

¼ cup of apple, peeled, cored and cut into 1/2-inch dice

  • 2 cups of heavy cream
  • 1 1/2 cups of sugar
  • 8 egg yolks (whites discarded)

For whiskey sauce

  • 2 cups of Sweet Cream Sauce
  • 3 tbsp of Jack Daniel’s Tennessee whiskey

Methods of Preparing Ruth Chris Bread Pudding Step by Step:

Step 1: Take out a mixing bowl, and add ½ cup of light brown sugar and 1 ¼ cup of sugar. Mix them with a whisk. Then divide in 2 equal parts.

Step 2: In another bowl, add ½ tbsp. of cinnamon, 1 tbsp of vanilla extract, a pinch of salt, 1 tbsp of bourbon, and the one-half part of the mixed sugar.

Step 3: Now, take a saucepan and add ½ quart of milk, ½ quart of half and half, ½ cup of sweet butter along with the remaining mixed sugar.

Step 4: Bringing the mixture to a boil, add the finely beaten eggs, ½ cup of finely beaten eggs, and ¼ cup of diced apple.

Step 5: After 5 minutes, remove from the heat and add the bread cubes and let sit for 3 to 4 minutes or until the liquids are completely absorbed.

Step 6: Grease a baking dish with butter. Place the bread dish in the prepared baking dish.

Step 7: Bake it at the temperature of 375 degrees for 45 minutes.

After 45 minutes, remove from the oven and let cool for 10 minutes. At the time of serving, you can top with vanilla ice cream.

Preparing the Sweet Cream Sauce

Step 1: In a small saucepan, add 2 cups of heavy cream and ¾ cup of sugar. Keep the heat on medium-low flame. Stir occasionally until it starts to boil.

Step 2: Take out a mixing bowl, and place egg yolks, 1 tsp of vanilla extract, and the remaining sugar. Mix it finely until completely combined.

Step 3: Whisk the simmering cream mixture into the egg yolk mixture and mix them finely.

Step 4: Transfer the mixer to a double boiler and stir for 8 to 12 minutes. You need to stir here constantly.

Step 5: Remove from heat and strain with a strainer. Let the sweet cream sauce cool.

Preparing the Whiskey Sauce:

Step 1: When the prepared sweet cream sauce is completely cooled, measure out 2 cups of it in a mixing bowl.

Step 2: Pour 3 tbsp of whiskey and with a beater whip it.

Place the whiskey sauce into the refrigerator and while serving, top it on the top along with the vanilla ice cream.

Conclusion:

Preparing the famous bread pudding doesn’t take time. Surely you can surprise your guests and family members with this special bread pudding. From anywhere, you can enjoy the restaurant-like bread pudding at home without any hassle. The whiskey sauce is an optional topping, if you don’t have any whiskey at home.
