Pappadeaux Dirty Rice Recipe

For quite a long time, I was thinking about exploring the pappadeaux dirty rice recipe. When you go to pappadeaux, I bet once in life, you have tried their special dirty rice. Anyways, let’s jump for the recipes. 

Recipe 1:

Dirty rice consists of spices and ground meat like chicken, pork, beef, etc. You can add vegetables to your recipe. While preparing dirty rice, remember to cook into a simmer most of the time, or else it won’t taste as you want. This dirty rice is among one of the pappadeaux copycat recipes. So, from this recipe, you will get 100% of the taste.

Ingredients of pappadeaux dirty rice:

  • Long grain rice about 2 cups
  • Chicken broth about 4 cups
  • Chicken liver about 1/2 lb
  • Ground pork about 1/2 lb.
  • Butter about 4 tbsp.
  • Garlic about 4 cloves.
  • Onions about 1/4 cup, diced
  • Dry mustard about 1/2 tsp.
  • Old bay seasoning about 2 tsp.
  • Oregano about 1 tsp.
  • Green bell pepper about 1/2 cup
  • 1 bay leaf
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste

Directions: 

Step 1: Chop the garlic cloves and onion finely with a sharp chef knife.

Step 2: Bringing out the food processor add the chicken liver and ground pork and continue processing them for 5 minutes. You will notice they look like a meat mixture. 

Step 3: Add 4 tbsp. of butter in a saucepan and melt the butter over low heat. 

Step 4: Add meat mixture into the frying pan and cook them for 10 minutes over medium-high heat or until the pinkish color of the meat turns into brown color. 

Step 5: Add 2 tbsp. of old bay seasoning, a pinch of oregano, salt, and black pepper into the half-cooked meat mixture and cook for another 5 minutes. 

Step 6: Sprinkle the dry mustard into the meat mixture and add chopped garlic and onion into the meat mixture. Cook them all for 3 minutes. 

Step 7: Remove the saucepan from heat and place them in a bowl.

Step 8: Now in that saucepan, pour the whole of chicken broth, chopped bell pepper, and long-grain uncooked rice over high heat. 

Step 9: After 10 minutes, when the broth has started boiling, cover the saucepan with a lid and turn the heat into a simmer. Cook the rice in a simmer for 20 minutes. Stir the rice occasionally so that the rice can’t stick to the bottom. 

Step 10: Transfer the rice into another saucepan and add the cooked meat mixture. 

Step 11: In low heat, mix the rice with meat mixture and your dirty rice is ready to be served after 5 minutes. 

Serve your special dirty dish hot. Rice dressing mix recipes or dirty rice recipes have a lot of variations. To me, this version of the recipe is the best. Try this at your home to get the best dirty rice you have ever eaten.

Recipe 2: 

Pappadeaux sauce recipes are well demanded as well. Among them what I’m going to share with you is known as pappadeaux’s Alexander sauce. I’m going to mix the sauce with shrimp and lump crabmeat to create a full dish. With dirty rice, you can have this as a side dish. Its sweet texture perfectly goes with dirty rice and these two side dishes make a proper meal. So, without wasting any time, grab the ingredients, and start cooking. 

Ingredients: 

  • Unsalted butter about 6 tbsp.
  • Sweet type onion or yellow onion, chopped about 1/2 cup
  • All-purpose flour about 1/2 cup
  • Clam juice about 1/2 cup. If you don’t have clam juice, as a substitute you can use chicken broth. 
  • Whipping cream about 2 cups
  • Kosher salt about 1/2 tsp.
  • White pepper about 1/4 tsp.
  • Uncooked small shrimp about 1 cup 
  • White lump crabmeat about 5 ounces 
  • Cayenne pepper about 1/4 tsp (optional)

Instruction: 

Step 1: You need to melt the butter at first. So, take a large saucepan, melt 3 tbsp. of butter or margarine over low heat. Be careful with that because your butter should not get brown. 

Step 2: When the butter is melted, add finely chopped yellow onions. You can’t use regular onion, the texture of yellow onion or sweet type onion is far different from the regular ones. 

Step 3: Stir the onions with a spatula until they get tender. Add flour and cook for 2 minutes, stirring continuously. 

Step 4: Now pour the clam juice or chicken broth slowly into the saucepan and stir over high heat.

Step 5: Add the whipping cream and let them cook for another 2 minutes. This makes the sauce thick and flavorful. 

Step 6: To season the sauce add 1/2 tsp of kosher salt, 1/4 tsp of white pepper, and cayenne powder. You can add chili powder instead of cayenne powder. Cook them all for 5 minutes. 

Step 7: Taking a frying pan, add the rest of the butter for melting over low heat.

Step 8: Add shrimp into the frying pan and fry for 2 minutes. 

Step 9: After that, add the crabmeat and cook for 7 minutes or until they get a light brown color. 

Step 10: When the cooking is done, remove the frying pan from heat and place them into the saucepan. 

Step 11: Mix the shrimp and crabmeat with the sauce and place them in a casserole dish for serving. 

Pappadeaux restaurant recipes are flavorful and can be easily cooked at home. I became successful in my first attempt. When you prepare the dish, you will feel the taste too.
