The rich flavorful dirty rice is always one of my favorite dishes. I remember them from my childhood, my mom always served me dirty rice whenever I won a cricket match. Now, now, don’t get away just hearing the dirty rice. Let me break down about the dirty rice.

What Is Dirty Rice:

Dirty rice is simply just a kind of rice. What’s the fuzz? Well, it has a lot of stuff in it to make it flavorful. The flavor of Dirty Rice originates with the Holy Trinity- onion, celery, and bell pepper.

Besides that, garlic and a few teaspoons of Cajun seasoning infuse out the seasonings. I usually go with sausages and chicken and green bell peppers, cayenne, and black pepper to bring out the spiciness.

Parsley and onions come as the garnish. These all together make this dirty rice recipe authentic, pungent, and delicious. The rice gets the ‘dirty’ color from most of these ingredients.

As a matter of fact, these are my leftovers most of the time. Consider that this is a recipe that you will definitely love you are in the spicy comfort food.

Bojangles Dirty Rice

Bojangles is a fast-food chain restaurant that specializes in dishes with Cajun seasoning. Recently, a new Bojangles restaurant sprung up in our area.

Most of their dishes are amazing, and I would mention especially the Dirty Rice one. It was loaded with sausages and spicy flavors, and that is, from my point of view, is the best rendition. It gave me new hopes for my leftovers. Also, this dirty rice is an excellent course with a side salad, or you can serve it with cornbreads.

After some study, I came up with the recipes for bojangles rice, or you can say bojangles copycat recipes that tasted pretty much the same. I am definitely sure you guys are going to love it. I should not make you guys suffer, so let’s get to know how to make bojangles dirty rice.

Ingredients we Need:

  • 3 cups of rice
  • 1 lb of sausage
  • 4 cups of chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup of minced onion
  • 1 cup of diced bell pepper
  • 2 diced celery
  • 1 tbsp of minced garlic
  • 1 diced jalapeno pepper
  • 1/2 tsp of black pepper
  • 1 tsp of red pepper flakes
  • 1/4 tsp of paprika
  • 1/4 tsp of cayenne pepper
  • salt to taste

Directions Step by Step:

Step 1:

Starting with the rice here. I will be using brown rice today for a rich flavor. Do use any other rice available. It will work out just fine. Now, cooking the rice until it’s done in chicken broth. Usually, it will take around 20 minutes. Add some bay leaves, if possible. Brings out some fresh smell. After it’s cooked, drain the access broth, and set aside.

Step 2:

Taking a large skillet. I am going to brown off the sausage. For the sausage, I prefer the ground one. No issues with mild or spicy. Go for your taste buds, as this recipe is very much adaptable.

It will take around 10 minutes, but I usually brown the sausage until it looks like it’s overdone. I think it participates in the toothsome feature of the dirty rice. Set aside the sausage.

Step 3:

Taking a pan and heating the oil under medium settings. Now, adding the onion, bell pepper, garlic, cayenne, paprika, black pepper. Do remember one thing here. The cayenne pepper and the paprika will infuse the spiciness.

You can adjust the spiciness in your own way. If you took spicy sausage, I would suggest leaving the cayenne here. Saute until softened; will take about 5 minutes. Add the jalapeno after that—Cook for more 5 minutes. Add Cajun seasoning and salt to taste.

Step 4:

Now I am adding the sausage. A little bit of water would do great for not sticking in the pan. Stirring it for about a minute.

Step 5:

Adding the cooked rice now. I have reduced the heat to medium-low settings. Don’t forget to stir occasionally for 5 more minutes.

Step 6:

Put off the heat. Let the smell reach to your senses. Don’t get stoned, though. That is folks, is Bojangles’ dirty rice. Serve hot with your preferences.

Bojangles Dirty Rice and Beans

How about making the dirty rice of Bojangles a bit livelier? I was thinking over this for a couple of weeks now and finally came up with beans. I used black beans here. Suit yourself with your taste.

Trust me, the beans make a great addition to this fabulous recipe. There is no special bojangles beans recipe as Bojangles doesn’t add beans to their dirty rice. For suggestions, I would suggest that you go for pintos, kidney beans, and peas as well. You just won’t regret it, mate.

Conclusion:

A 500 calories dinner is worthy of your evening. This dish is the main highlight of a meal. You can serve it with a salad, but it is also served as a side dish with hot sauce.

This amazing recipe is completely adjustable as per your taste, as you have seen before, there was beans added there. Also, they take only 1 hour to prepare. So, no worries about surprise guests at all. Cheers and Bon Appetit! Till next time.
