  • Three cups of whole milk

Method of Preparing the Hardees Biscuit and Gravy Dish Step by Step:

Making the Biscuits:

Step 1: Mix the flour, baking powder, sugar, shortening and buttermilk together. Do not knead.

Step 2: Roll the dough into a one-inch thick portion. 

Step 3: Cut out rounds and brush with buttermilk.

Step 4: Place on baking pan and bake in the oven at 400°F or 200°C for 15 minutes. 

Step 5: Take them out of the oven and set on cooling rack.

Making the Gravy:

Step 1: In a large deep skillet, set the heat to medium-high. Cook and brown the sausages.

Step 2: Remove the sausages and keep the heat running, don’t remove the drippings. 

Step 3: Drop the butter into the pan and stir till it melts.

Step 4: Add the flour and cook until it is smooth.

Step 5: Gradually pour the milk and keep stirring. Keep doing so until it thickens into a gravy. 

Step 6: Pour the sausages back into the skillet, season with salt and pepper and cook bit more. 

Step 7: Let it simmer for around 10-15 minutes. Remove from the heat.

Step 8: Serve immediately with the biscuits and enjoy.
