Ingredients that You Will Need Are:

One Pound of Italian Sausage

One and Half a Pounds of Ground Beef (Lean Meat)

One Package of Fresh Mushrooms, Coarsely Chopped

One Teaspoon + One Teaspoon of Salt

Half a Teaspoon + One-Fourth of a Teaspoon of Ground Black Pepper

Six Cups of Marinara Sauce

Two Tablespoons of Water (More or less)

One-Fourth of a Teaspoon of Red Pepper Flakes

Half a Teaspoon of Italian Herb Seasoning

Two Eggs

Two Pounds of Ricotta Cheese

Two Containers of Diced Mozzarella Cheese

Two-Thirds of a Cup + Half a Cup of Shredded Parmigiano-Reggiano Cheese

One Pinch of Cayenne Pepper

One-Fourth of a Cup of Chopped Parsley

One Package of Lasagna Noodles

Method of Preparing the Christmas Lasagna Step by Step:

Step 1: Take a large saucepan and cook the ground beef meat and Italian sausage meat, until they brown. It should take about 10 minutes. Break the meat apart to cook it evenly.

Add Italian herb spice, red pepper flakes, some salt, and black pepper to the mushrooms. Increase the heat to medium-high and keep cooking till the mushrooms release juices and the pan’s bottom is basically dry.

Step 2: Mix the meat and marinara sauce in a large enough bowl. Fill marinara sauce container halfway with water and shake to extract all of the sauce; add to mixture. Reduce the heat of the stove to low and cook for around 2 hours of time.

The main objective is to cook the meat until very soft. If the sauce becomes thicker than you want it to, add a bit more water. Get rid of the excess fat from the surface of the created sauce and season as necessary. Take it off the heat.

Step 3: Preheat the oven, setting the temperature at 375 degrees F. Whisk the eggs, Parmigiano-Reggiano, mozzarella cheese, and ricotta cheese. Season the cheese mixture by adding salt, black and cayenne pepper, and parsley.

Step 4: A big saucepan of salted water should be brought to a boil. Cook lasagna in boiling water for about 8 minutes, tossing regularly, until cooked through yet firm to the bite. Drain and rinse the noodles, then place them in a dish of cold water to cool.

Step 5: In a 10×15-inch baking sheet, spread one-fourth part of the sauce on the bottom. Spread half of the ricotta cheese mixture over the noodles and top with part of the noodles.

Pour enough meat sauce on the cheese layer, followed by one-third of the noodles and the remaining ricotta mixture. Over the cheese filling, spread one-fourth of the meat sauce. To settle the layers, gently tap the casserole dish on a stable work surface.

Place the last third of the noodles on top of the sauce and drizzle with the remaining sauce, mozzarella cheese, and Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese should be dotted on top of the dish.

Step 6: Cover the dish with aluminum foil, making sure the foil does not touch the top of the casserole. To collect any spillage, place the casserole on a baking sheet. Set the oven to 350°F in preheating, and bake for 30 minutes.

Remove the foil and cook for another 30 to 35 minutes, or until the lasagna turns into a beautiful golden brown color and is bubbling. Allow for 20-25 minutes for the dish to cool down, before you cut it into squares. Garnish with chopped chives (optional) and serve with breadsticks.

How to Brown Cheese on Lasagna?

Sprinkle cheese on the top layer of the lasagna dish. Cook the lasagna, now topped with cheese shreds in the oven for about 20-22 minutes. When you take the dish out, the cheese will look melted and already browning. After it sets, the cheese must look brown. This is the easiest method of browning cheese on top of the lasagna.

Conclusion

You can utilize the type of thick lasagna used in this recipe to create even more dishes. The dish is a modified version of the original Italian dish. This will surely be a hit at events or warm homely dinner meals.
