Broccoli ice cream does not necessarily have to be made entirely out of broccoli. You can obviously use other ingredients as well. One of the tried and tested broccoli ice cream recipes are actually a fun dessert to enjoy.

Here is a recipe for a healthy homemade ice cream made with ingredients that also includes broccoli. It is definitely a dessert and not some side dish or dip you will be disappointed in making and eating.

The Ingredients (Serving Yield Is 4 Units) You Will Need Are:

  • Two mediumly frozen sliced bananas
  • One cup of mediumly frozen chopped broccolis
  • Four ounces or around 115 grams of cold milk (the milk can be of your choice)
  • One tablespoon of dry Cocoa powder
  • One cup of frozen cherries (or berries of your choice)
  • Almond or cashew nuts (keep caution if you are allergic, avoid the nuts in that case)
  • One tablespoon of liquid vanilla essence
  • Powdered sugar according to taste, we recommend one tablespoon

Method of Preparing Broccoli Ice Cream Step by Step:

Step 1: Peel the bananas the night before. Freeze them overnight or a minimum of eight hours. Make sure they do not frost. Set the temperature in the fridge accordingly.

Step 2: Wash the broccolis the night before. Freeze them overnight or a minimum of eight hours, as well. Make sure they do not frost or retain too much water. Set the temperature in the fridge accordingly. 

Step 3: Inspect your cherries and make sure all are fresh. Freeze them overnight or a minimum of eight hours (If you are using any kind of berries, do the same. You can alternate cherries with blackberries or blueberries.)

Step 4: The next day, you will need a blender. Wash and prepare the appliance equipment.

Step 5: Slice the bananas, chop the broccoli and cherries or berries, and the nuts of your pick.

Step 6: Pour the sliced bananas, chopped broccolis and cherries/ berries, chopped nuts, milk, dry cocoa powder, sugar and vanilla essence into the blender.

Step 7: Blend till you can see that there are no big lumps. If the nuts seem to pop up, that is okay. It will add texture to the recipe. 

Step 8: Pour the mixture into the designated dish. Freeze it for at least 5-6 hours.

Step 9: Serve in scoops and topping it with chocolate syrup and non-fat whipped cream.

Note: you can store the dish wrapped in cellophane. It will be fresh up to 3 weeks.
