KFC Ginger Burger Copycat

This one is actually quite a copycat of the original KFC zinger burger. Now, you can make this tangy snack whenever you want. Just marinate the chicken fillets and freeze. When’s the mood, simply fry and prepare the patty with the buns. Simple as that. Let’s discover how to make zinger burger; the copycat one of KFC

Ingredients:

  • 3 chicken breasts
  • 1/4 cup of plain yogurt 
  • 1/4 tsp allspice powder
  • 1/4 tsp of red chili powder
  • 1 cup of water 
  • 1 cup of all-purpose flour
  • 1 and 1/4 cups of bread crumbs 
  • 1 large-sized egg 
  • 6 burger buns 
  • salt to taste
  • oil for frying

For the sauce: –

  • 3/4 cup of greek yogurt
  • 3 tbsp of olive oil
  • 2 tbsp of lemon juice 
  • 1 and 1/2 tsp of mustard 
  • 1/2 tsp of pepper powder 
  • salt to taste

For the assembly: –

  • lettuce leaves as needed
  • tomatoes, cut to rings

Directions for preparation step by step:

Step 1: Get a mixing bowl. Add 1/4 cup of yogurt, 1/4 tsp of allspice powder, 1 cup of water, and salt to your taste. Whisk it properly.

Step 2: Let’s get the breasts. Wash them properly. After that, add them to the yogurt mixture. Coat the breast pieces and set them to marinate in the fridge for 4 hours. Better leave overnight.

Step 3: Get another mixing bowl. Add 1 cup of all-purpose flour, 1/4 tsp of red chili powder, and a bit salt.

Step 4: Get a large-sized egg. Beat it and add in 2 tbsp of water. Set it aside.

Step 5: Let’s get the marinated chickens. Drain the marinade. Place the fillets in the flour mixture. Coat all over them properly.

Step 6: After that, dip the fillets in the egg and then transfer them into the bread crumbs. Set the fillets aside and let them rest.

Step 8: Get a small bowl. Add 3/4 cup of greek yogurt, 3 tbsp of olive oil, 2 tbsp of lemon juice, 1 and 1/2 tsp of mustard, 1/2 tsp of pepper powder, and a pinch of salt to taste. This is close to the chicken zinger kfc uses. Mix them well.

Step 9: Get the burger buns. Slice and toast them.

Step 10: Arrange the items by first placing the patty, lettuce, and tomato ring afterward.

Step 11: Get the sauce. Add the sauce spoonful all over the tomatoes. After that, add the other bun on top. There is your zinger burger. Serve and enjoy!

Now, this one, folks, can challenge the original recipe with quite some guts. The extreme crispiness, double dredged fillets with the secret sauce pressed into soft buns, is what I define as ultimate. You can call this recipe homemade zingers special. Let’s jump into this.

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb of chicken breasts or thighs
  • 1 tsp of salt
  • 1 tsp of white pepper
  • 2 tbsp of sriracha sauce 
  • 1 tbsp of mustard sauce
  • 1 tsp of ginger powder
  • 1 tsp of garlic powder

For the batter: –

  • 1/4 cup of all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup of cornflour
  • 1/4 tsp of baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp of paprika powder
  • 1/2 tsp of salt
  • 1 tbsp of chili sauce
  • 3/4 cup of cold milk

For Dry Mix: –

  • 1 cup of all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp of baking powder

For the sauce: –

  • 1/2 cup of mayonnaise
  • 4 tbsp of tomato ketchup
  • 2 tbsp of apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tbsp of mustard sauce

For the assembly: –

  • 4 burger buns
  • lettuce leaves as needed
  • tomatoes, cut to rings
  • 8 cheddar cheese slices

Directions for preparation step by step:

Step 1: Get a mixing bowl. Add 1 tsp of salt, 1 tsp of white pepper, 2 tbsp of sriracha sauce, 1 tbsp of mustard sauce, 1 tsp of ginger powder, and 1 tsp of garlic powder. Whisk it properly.

Step 2: Let’s get the fillets. Wash them properly. After that, add them to the marinade. Coat the fillets and set them to marinate in the fridge for around 1 hour or so. Better leave overnight.

Step 3: Let’s prepare the batter now. Here is the point where we are getting off-grid for the zinger meal. Get another bowl. Add 1/4 cup of all-purpose flour, 1/4 cup of corn flour, 1/4 tsp of baking powder, 1/2 tsp of paprika powder, 1/2 tsp of salt, and 1 tbsp of chili sauce. Add 3/4 cup of cold milk gradually. Keep an eye on the consistency. The batter should be able to stick to the fillets. Set the bowl aside.

Step 4: Let’s head for the dry mix. Get a shallow bowl. Add 1 cup of all-purpose flour and 1/2 tsp of baking powder. Set it aside.

Step 5: Get the fillets. Drain the marinade. Dip the fillets in the batter, then coat with the flour mixture. Coat the fillets properly by gently pressing them. After that, dip the fillets into the batter again. This creates the extreme crunchiness we are looking for.

Step 6: Get a pot. Add enough oil to deep fry the fillets. Turn the heat over to medium-settings. Add the fillets in batches and cook until golden color appears. Drain the fillets on tissue, lightly press them.

For the sauce: –

Step 7: The zinger secret is quite different here. Get a small bowl. Add 1/2 cup of mayonnaise, 4 tbsp of tomato ketchup, 2 tbsp of apple cider vinegar, and 2 tbsp of mustard sauce. Mix them well.

Step 8: Get the burger buns. Slice and toast them.

Step 9: Place the crispy patty first; 2 slices of cheddar and tomato rings afterward. Now, drizzle the sauce and add some lettuce. After that, add the other bun on top. There’s your challenge against the kfc burger. Serve and enjoy!
