Swamp Gravy Recipe

Swamp Gravy Recipe

There are plenty of gravy recipes available but this swamp gravy recipe is my favorite. Because the perfect thickness with vegetables makes the gravy grate, also you have flavour of whatever fish you are using. Let’s check out the recipe.

Fish Gravy Recipe

Preparing swamp gravy with potatoes, white onion, whole kernel corn, tomatoes, and okra with the fish dripping makes the dish so enticing that you will immediately fall in love with this recipe. Here is the written recipe.

Swamp Gravy Ingredients:

  • 5 large potatoes, finely diced
  • 1 large white onion, finely chopped (1/2 cup)
  • 2 cups of whole kernel Corn
  • 14 oz of cut okra
  • 28 oz of water (use the tomato can to measure)
  • 28 oz of crushed red tomatoes
  • Fish drippings

How to Make Fish Gravy Step by Step:

Step 1: This doesn’t include in the recipe, but you will need any type of fish, and fry them finely. We just need the grease that you have used to fry that specific fish. Well, here I’m using Tuna fish, and its odor is amazing.

Step 2: Pour the left-out fish grease into an old coffee can. Set the can aside for further usage.

Step 3: Use that frying pan again that you have used in frying fish. Turn on the burner and heat on high flame.

Step 4: Add finely chopped onion, and saute for 1 to 3 minutes or until the onions get translucent and tender. I hope you don’t want them to get browned. It will be just burnt onions!

Step 5: Now, add 14 oz of okra, continue cooking this 5 minutes, reducing the heat to medium.

Step 6: Then, add 24 oz. of crushed red tomatoes, and stir to give a good mix.

Step 7: Finally, add 2 cups of whole kernel corn, and 28 oz of water into the frying pan.

Step 8: Lastly pour the food dripping you have prepared at the very beginning.

Step 9: Covered or uncovered, cook them up for 20 minutes in medium heat or until the liquid gets thicken, and the vegetables are completely done.

Remove from the oven, and transfer the swamp onion gravy to a serving bowl. Enjoy warm gravy with roasted broccoli, fried rice or simply cooked rice.

Conclusion:

So, see! There is no scope of ruining this recipe. This recipe is super easy to prepare. If you don’t have time to do this too, then you can add all the ingredients together in a large sauce pan then before removing from heat add the fish drippings. Tada! The amazing gravy is ready to enjoy.
