Creole seasoning is the combination of some spices in a limited amount and this makes it unique. You can make the seasoning at home. Let me help you with the recipe for Creole seasoning. - 3 tablespoons of salt
- 2 tablespoons of dried oregano
- 2 tablespoons of onion powder
- 2 tablespoons of garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon of white pepper
- 2 tablespoons of dried basil
- 1 tablespoon of dried thyme
- 1 tablespoon of black pepper
- 1 tablespoon of cayenne pepper
- 5 tablespoons of paprika
Step 1: Take a medium-sized bowl.
Step 2: Add all the ingredients as per the amount in the bowl.
Step 3: Mix the ingredients well.
Step 4: Bring an airtight pot and pour the seasoning.
Keep it in a dry place and you can use it for up to 6 months.
Cajun rice popeyes recipe:
People often wonder about what’s in popeyes Cajun rice dish. The recipe is full of rich texture like beef, pork, chicken, sausage, chicken gizzards, etc. I’m going to prepare this with only lean ground beef and sausage. It takes only 30 minutes to cook and with this you can quickly make your meal any time.
Popeyes Cajun Rice Ingredients:
- Sausage about 1 lb.
- Diced green onion about 1/2 cup
- Creole seasoning about 1 teaspoon
- Long grain rice about 4 cups
- Dried celery flakes about 1/2 teaspoon
- Grounded red pepper about 1/4 teaspoon
- Garlic powder about 1/2 teaspoon ( you can use fresh chopped garlic instead)
- Water about 1 cup
- Black pepper about 1/4 teaspoon
- Lean Ground beef about 1 lb.
- Butter about 1 cup.
How to make Cajun rice step by step:
Step 1: To boil the rice, at first you have to rinse the rice twice or thrice time so that there is no dust, starches left. With a sieve or mesh strainer, finely wash the rice resulting in clear water.
Step 2: For cooking the rice, the measurement is a big factor. The water and rice have to be in proportion of 2:1, which means if you add 1 cup of rice then with that measuring cup add 2 cups of water.
Step 3: In a saucepan, pour the water and start boiling it over high heat. If you want, you can add a small tab of butter to increase the taste of your rice.
Step 4: When the water has started boiling, add the rinsed rice into it lowering the heat into the medium. After a minute or two, put the saucepan in gentle simmer, cover the saucepan with a lid.
Step 5: After 20 minutes, turn off the stove and you will notice some leftover water into the saucepan. Tilt the saucepan to expel the water from. Use a glass rice bowl to keep the rice.
Step 6: For preparing the dirty rice, place the sausage into the blender or food processor. And finely ground it.
Step 6: Now take a frying pan and add butter for melting.
Step 7: In the butter, add finely chopped bell pepper, one cup of onions, garlic powder, and stir constantly.
Step 8: After a few seconds, add the grounded beef and sausage into the frying pan and stir. Let them cook until the pink color of beef and sausage turns into saggy brown color.
Step 9: By this time, the bell paper should get tender enough to cut them with the butter knife or with the head part of a spatula.
Step 10: Now pour 1/2 cup of water into the frying pan and let it cook for 10 more minutes.
Step 11: When done, pour the cooked rice and mix up well.
Hence, your popeyes special cajun rice recipe is ready.
Best Cajun Rice Recipe on Rice Cooker:
If you belong to a rice cooker, it is easier to make your cajun rice. You just have to add all ingredients and turn on the rice cooker. All you need to do is gather the ingredients, cook, and serve.
- Chicken broth about 14.5 ounces or 1 can
- Olive oil about 1 tablespoon
- Beef bouillon powder about 1 tablespoon
- Garlic powder about 2 teaspoons
- Cinnamon powder about 2 teaspoons
- Cajun seasoning or creole seasoning about 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper about 1/2 teaspoon
- Worcestershire sauce about 1 teaspoon
- Canned bacon bits or Fried and crumbled bacon about 1/4 cup
- Onion powder about 2 tablespoons or Diced onion about 1/2 cup
- Celery rib (diced) about 1 teaspoon
- Long grain rice 1 cup
Step 1: In your rice cooker pan, pour the whole of the chicken broth.
Step 2: Add the beef bouillon powder into the broth. If you are using bouillon cube, then crumble it at first then add it and stir with a wooden spoon.
Step 3: Pour 1 tablespoon of olive oil into the broth.
Step 4: Sprinkle 2 teaspoons of garlic powder, 2 teaspoons of cinnamon powder, 1 teaspoon of cajun seasoning, 1 teaspoon of Worcestershire sauce, and mix them well.
Step 5: Still there are some ingredients left. Serially, pour 2 tablespoon of onion powder or 1/2 cup of diced onion, 1 teaspoon of diced celery rib, and bacon bits.
Step 6: Lastly, add 1 cup of long-grain rice. Stir them to get the powdered ingredients mixed up into the broth.
Step 7: Plug the rice cooker and get down the red switch to turn it on. Your rice cooker is on cooking mood.
Step 8: After 25 minutes, you will notice that the cooking mood has shifted into a warm mood. Check if the rice is tender or not.
Step 9: If your rice is well cooked, then unplug the rice cooker. If not, then again shift the red switch into the cooking mode.
Step 10: When done, stir the rice with a spatula and put it in a casserole dish for serving.
Cajun rice aka dirty rice is a delicious lunch item and healthy enough for carrying only 548 calories. However, the name dirty rice is typically set for the saggy color. There is nothing dirty in it but the super tasty texture.
