Today I’m with the famous cracker barrel turnip green recipe for everyone. In my family this recipe is very popular, and on hectic summer days, I usually prepare it almost once or twice in a week. Turnip Greens Recipe

Say goodbye to standing over hours and hours cooking. With instant pot, eat whenever you want. All you need to do is gather ingredients and put them on into the instant pot. This is the best part of IP cooking. No hassle of burning, no hassle of getting food cold. Here is the recipe given below:

Cracker Barrel Greens Ingredients: 

  •  Diced collard or turnip greens (16 oz)
  • Chicken broth ( 1 cup)
  • Vinegar (Apple cider) ( half tablespoon)
  • Sugar (depending on your wish)
  • Red pepper flakes (depending on your wish)
  • Salt to taste
  • Freshly ground black pepper or to taste
  • Small slices of bacon (4 pieces)
  • Small diced turkey necks or country ham slice (if needed)
  • Extra virgin olive oil (EVOO) (4 tablespoons)
  • Diced onion (Half cup)

How to Make Turnip Greens Step by Step:

Step 1: Take out an instant pot, and pour 4 tbsp of extra virgin olive oil, and roughly sliced bacon into the instant pot. 

Step 2: If you are using turkey neck or ham, add them too. Turn on the instant pot by pressing the button ‘SAUTE’. 

Step 3: Saute ½ cup of chopped onion, and the added meat. Stir them continuously until the onions are translucent and tender plus the bacon is crispy. 

Step 4: Add 1 cup of chicken broth, 16 oz of turnip greens, 2 tbsp of apple cider vinegar, ½ tsp of sugar, ½ tsp of red pepper flakes, 1 tsp of salt, and ¼ tsp of black pepper. 

Step 5: Now, turn off the instant pot. Back on, press ‘MANUAL’ as well as set the pressure to high for 30 minutes. 

Step 6: Do check again, the valve is set to ‘SEALING’. Greens will cook through pressure. Keep the instant pot like that until you are ready to eat. The more they cook the more the taste will infuse. 

When to eat, remove from the instant pot, and dice some meat from the turkey neck, adding to cooked greens. Serve cracker barrel turnip greens with pepper sauce.
