A few years back, during Chinese New Year, I visited the country. The festive season was amazing. What was more excellent was their cuisine. Chinese food is popular all over the world. I especially want to mention the walnut chicken. 

It was so delicious. Not to mention, I always love eating chicken. Therefore, after returning home, I often try this dish. And suddenly, I thought, I must share the delicious Chinese walnut chicken recipe with my fellow audience. Therefore, let’s have some Chinese food today.

Recipe of Parchment Chicken Chinese:

As I often make walnut chicken Chinese ingredients are always available in my kitchen. So, I didn’t have to purchase anything; however, you may not have everything ready. Therefore, I would suggest you to check the ingredients first. If they’re available to you, that’s great, or you can get them from any grocery. I have seen them available everywhere.

Ingredients we Need: 

  • 1 pound boneless chicken thighs or breasts (cut into cubes)
  • 1 cup raw walnuts
  • ½ cup white sugar
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Chinese rice wine
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 200 grams mushrooms (sliced)
  • ½ cup peas
  • 2 tbsp of honey
  • 1 teaspoon potato starch
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce

How to Make Chinese Walnut Chicken Step by Step:

Step 1: Spread the sugar on a saucepan and let them melt in medium-high heat. Once the sugar melts completely, add all the raw Asian walnuts. After the walnuts are well coated with sugar, spread them over parchment paper.

Step 2: Pick a large bowl and combine the chicken with soy sauce, potato starch, and rice wine. After mixing them well, let them sit for a while.

Step 3: While the chicken is sitting, prepare the mushrooms. Have some oil in the saucepan and stir mushrooms in medium-high heat. 

Step 4: Once the mushrooms are properly brown, add the chickens from the bowl. Also, add the hoisin sauce. Stir or toss up the pan frequently. Then let it cook for 3 to 4 minutes.

Step 5: Now, break up the walnuts. They’ll feel sticky because of sugar. Add them into the pan and let the sugar soften. Meanwhile, also add the peas. After that, cook for a while.

Now stop cooking. The honey walnut chicken is ready to serve. However, the dish better serve warm. So, don’t be late to eat. Besides, you can leave the remainders after eating for later. Just put it in the oven, and eat.
