We often want to have something for our meal that is tasteful and not that expensive. In our day to day life, chicken items bring us to fulfill the desire of that. Chicken po boy(poor boy) is well needed worldwide. Po boy sandwiches are traditional at Louisiana in a diverse variety. Among them, chicken po boy recipes have won our hearts. In my article, I’m going to share these recipes with additional tips.

Chicken Po Boy Sandwich Recipe:

As you already know that this po boy sandwich is like staple food of Louisiana but now worldwide very popular for its super tasty function. Sadly, if you want to have this chicken sandwich, you cannot order it to any nearby restaurants. So what to do now? Do you want to seat at home and with a sad face? The answer is obviously no. And, we are here to help you with your chicken po boy sandwich. Grab the ingredients and let’s go for the dish without thinking twice.

Ingredients:

  • 1 bowl chopped chicken (cubic sized) 
  • 1 1/5 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 tablespoon hot tomato sauce
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tablespoon salt
  • Oil for frying
  • 1 French bread (baguette-shaped)
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 4 slices of tomato
  • 8 dill pickle chips
  • 1/2 cup lettuce
  • Salt to taste

Directions:

Step 1: At first, wash the chopped chicken well then place them in a bowl that can be sealed afterward. Put the chicken into the bowl for marinating. To marinate the chicken, take half of the buttermilk including hot tomato sauce. Whisk the mixture well so that the buttermilk and hot tomato sauce can stick up like coat with chickens. Let me suggest you something, if you want the marinated chicken best, then in a fridge marinate it for 2 days. This is a secret tip that every restaurant follows.

Step 2: After 2 days or less, when you think you want to make the sandwich, take a casserole dish and mix up the flour and salt. There is no special flour or salt, just use what you usually use in other dishes. Stir the flour-salt mixture with a whisk.

Step 3: Take a frying pan and heat it up with oil to 260 degrees F. It is better to use an induction oven for this. By this time, pour 1 cup buttermilk into a bowl. The crispy texture is ready.

Step 4: Uncovering the marinated chicken, you have to follow three steps. 

  1. Dig up the marinated chicken mixture into the flour mix
  2. Then dip them into the bowl of buttermilk
  3. Again, dredge them back into the flour mix

Don’t mess up with this process cause this process makes your chicken crunchy and crispy outside. Swipe up the extra coating from the chicken. Now, place them carefully into the hot oil. Cook it for 3/4 minutes. You can see the golden brownish color and crispiness of the chicken. Your chicken is ready. Take a tray and place a towel or kitchen tissue before the chicken is put there. Kitchen tissue will soak extra oil from your chicken.

Step 5: Have the French bread and cut almost two-third of the upper part of the bread and spread with mayonnaise and hot tomato sauce. If you want, then you can mix the mayo and sauce in a cup too. Anyways, cover the gap with lettuce, then place the sliced tomatoes over it, afterwards, keep pickle chips and lastly the chicken. Sprinkle some garlic sauce on your homemade chicken po boy sandwich.

Chicken po boy sauce recipe:

In my previous recipe, I have marinated the chicken for a long time and did not use any special sauce. So, if you don’t want to wait for too long yet want a wonderful and tasteful fried chicken po boy then you need to make a sauce that can enrich the taste of your food. This sauce is super easy to make but 

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon prepared horseradish 
  • 3 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon sweet pickle juice 
  • 1 clove garlic minced and mashed 
  • 2 teaspoons smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cajun Seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon hot sauce 

Directions: 

First of all, take a small-sized bowl and add all the ingredients as per the amount and whisk them well.

For the best result, you can keep it aside for 3-4 hours ought to set the flavor of the ingredients entirely.


Chicken Strip Sandwich Recipe:

You must have heard about the chicken strip sandwich that is the quick solution to your hunger. This takes about 0.01% time of fried chicken po boy and I can say this is so-so good type tasty. I hope you enjoy my sandwich recipe and try it on home to make your tummy full and happy. 

Ingredients:

  • Chicken breast sliced into 2” strips
  • 2 cups of Italian seasoned bread crumbs
  • 6 tablespoons margarine
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Minced garlic cloves about 4
  • Red hot sauce about 4 tablespoons
  • Barbecue sauce about 2 tablespoons
  • Chili powder about 1 teaspoon
  • Shredded lettuce about 1 cup
  • Blue cheese dressing about 1/2 cup

Directions:

Step 1: In a small casserole dish or shallow bowl, set bread crumbs with the addition of salt and pepper as per taste and combine them well. After that, take two likewise casserole dishes and fill them up with flour and eggs. Now put garlic powder and whisk the egg mixture for 3-4 minutes.

Step 2: Pour the oil about 1.5” to 2″ in the amount for heat up in a Dutch oven. Heat the oil up to 325 degrees F. 

Step 3: By the heating time, you have to coat the chicken stripes properly and to do this first of all you have to do is,

  1. Dunk them into flours
  2. Dip in your chicken into eggs
  3. Coat them into bread crumbs

Step 4: Place coated chicken stripes into heated oil and fry them until they turn into earthy brown color. To check whether the chicken is fully cooked or not put an instant-read meat thermometer in the chicken strip. The inside temperature must have to be 160 degrees F. 

Step 5: When done, remove the Dutch oven and place the fried chicken strips in a bowl with tissue papers so that they can soak the extra oil from them.

Step 6: Bring a medium-sized saucepan for melting the margarine. The heat should not be over low or medium-low. You can use olive oil or butter instead. When the margarine is completely melted, add garlic and whisk over low heat for not more than 30 seconds.

Step 7: Eventually add the sauce items as per amount and red chili powder and stir them well for having a good mixture.

Step 8: Take two slices of bread and spread the sauce mixture each. Load with chicken strips and put shredded lettuce and blue cheese dressing on the top. 

Don’t keep your hungry stomach waiting anymore. Have this barbecue chicken strip sandwich and I bet you will love it.
