Barefoot Contessa Meatloaf Recipe

Today I have come up a new cooking recipe that is nothing but barefoot contessa meatloaf recipe. Barefoot Contessa is an American cooking show hosted by celebrity chef Ina Garten. The show’s title was originally used by Garten in her best-selling cookbook, and it came from the Italian word for ‘countess’. This mouth-watering meatloaf is becoming popular day by day. 

Ina Garten meatloaf Recipe:

I am going to share this amazing ina garten 1770 meatloaf recipe with you guys. The first we need to know is the ingredients. So let’s start!

Ingredients we Need: 

For the Meatloaf:

  • Beef (ground) – 1 pound
  • Veal (ground) – 1 pound
  • Egg (lightly beaten) – 5/6 pieces
  • Milk- 2/3 cups
  • Spanish onion (chopped) – 2 cups 
  • Celery (small-diced) – 1½ cups 
  • Fresh chives (chopped) – 1 tablespoon
  • Flat-leaf parsley (chopped) – 1 tablespoon
  • Thyme leaves (chopped) – 1 tablespoon
  • Good olive oil- 2 tablespoons 
  • Kosher salt- 2 tablespoons 
  • Black pepper (ground) – 1 tablespoon 
  • Panko (Japanese bread crumbs) – 2½ cups, and
  • Garlic Sauce 

For the Garlic sauce:

  • Peeled garlic cloves- 10 pieces
  • Chicken stock- 2 cups
  • Butter (unsalted) at room temperature- 3 tablespoons 
  • Good olive oil- 3/4 cup
  • Ground black pepper and kosher salt

How to Make Barefoot Contessa Meatloaf Step by Step:

Making Garlic Sauce:

Step 1: First of all, we will add garlic cloves and oil in a small saucepan and boil them in low heat for 10-15 minutes. Light brown colour will appear. Otherwise it will burnt and taste bitter. Now we will take off the garlics from the oil and set aside. 

Step2: Now in another pan, we will add cooked garlic, butter and chicken stock. Then we cook it properly for 35-40 minutes in low heat. The mixture will be thickened slightly. 

Step 3: After the cooking, we will mash the garlic cloves with the help of fork. For taste, we will add like half a teaspoon salt and quarter teaspoon of pepper. Our seasoning is complete!

Make the Meatloaf: 

Step 1: First of all, we have to preheat the oven to 350° F/ 177° C. Then we will heat (medium) the olive oil in a large frying pan. We will be adding celery and onions on oil and cooking for 5 minutes.

We don’t need to stir frequently. This part will be done when the onions turns translucent but not browned. Now we will set the pan aside for cooling slightly. 

Step 2: Now it’s time to cook the meat. We will take a large mixing bowl and place the beef, veal, eggs, milk, chives, parsley, thyme, kosher salt and black pepper. Now we will ground the panko (bread crumbs) finely with the help of a grinder.

We will add the previously cooked onion and celery, and ground bread crumbs to this mixture. Now we will toss the mixture gently with clean hands. We have to make sure that the mixture is combined properly. 

Step 3: In this stage, we will take a sheet pan and place a film of paper in it. In the middle of the pan, we will be patting the meat into flat and rectangular shape. And then by pressing its sides we will remove the air pockets of the meat mixture.

Now we will bake it for 40-50 minutes until 155-160° F. We can insert a thermometer in the middle of the pan and measure the temperature. 

Finally, we will rest the baked meatloaf for like 10-15 minutes and then serve meatloaf with garlic sauce.
