Ham Steaks with Pineapple in Slow Cooker

This recipe is one of the demanding slow cooker ham steak recipes here in North. The thin mustard sauce that I will be using here is gonna run off the whole moistured steak but not overwhelmed by it.

And if you can put some pineapples with it, it will infuse the steak flavor as well as it will bring out the tropical flavor. Okay, enough suffering already. Let’s get into the recipe.

Ingredients we Need:

  • 2 lbs of ham steaks
  • 2 tbsp of brown sugar
  • 1/2 fresh chopped pineapple (about 1 cup)
  • 1 cup of maraschino cherries
  • 1 tbsp of mustard
  • 1 tbsp of apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 cup of water
  • 1/2 tsp of pepper
  • 1 tbsp of cornstarch (optional)
  • Fresh thyme leaves, chopped

Directions Step by Step:

Step 1:

Starting with placing the ham pieces into the bottom of the slow cooker. Lay the 1 cup of pineapple slices, 1 cup of maraschino cherries, and chopped thyme evenly over and around the ham steaks.

The pineapple is worthy of this dish. Better add fresh ones instead of the canned.

Fresh ones bring out some extra tropical flavor, and you won’t regret it. The pineapple here balances the salty ham with sweetness. For a sweet-freak like me, I couldn’t resist adding those maraschino cherries.

Cherries, along with the pineapple here, gives off a sweet tang to the meal.

Step 2:

Take a bowl. Whisk together ½ cup of water, 1 tbsp of apple cider vinegar, 2 tbsp of brown sugar, and 1 tbsp of mustard until smooth. Now many folks here might want to get this mixture a thickened texture.

If you want, mix 1 tbsp of cornstarch with 1/4 cup of water and simply add here or to the pot. Don’t forget to give a good stir if added to the pot directly. Adding cornstarch is absolutely optional. I don’t like the sauce getting thicker by the usage of cornstarch. So, this part is out of my recipe. I have mentioned this just to let you know about the varieties.

Step 3:

Pour the sauce over the ham steaks, pineapple, and cherries in the slow cooker.

Step 4:

Cover the lid and cook for 6 hours on low settings or 3 hours on high settings. Do not open the lid during cooking.

Serve immediately. The aroma of hot bubbly ham steaks is absolutely mouth-watering, and you will find yourself grabbing immediately, ignoring the hotness. Don’t burn your mouth, just be careful, or else, you can’t enjoy the dish. If any sauce is left, serve with it and enjoy.

Honey Glazed Ham Steaks in Slow Cooker

When I studied various ham steaks recipe, I got to know that glazing the ham with honey is also popular. So I wanted to try it out and found a delicious outcome that should not be kept to me till I die. After all, sharing is caring. I also added some mustard. Don’t mind me if I put some green bean casserole or root beer baked beans.

It’s just, they go so well with this ham steak crock pot recipe. In the end, some lemon thymes, viola, and some barbecue sauce, and trust me, you will die for next weekend. This delicious slow cooker ham steak is an easy fix, low in carbs and high in flavors. Now let’s jump into how to cook ham steaks in a crockpot on your weekend.
